1. What is screen printing and how does it work?
Screen printing is the art of transferring a stenciled design onto a garment using a mesh screen. Once the screens have been created—with one layer for each color—ink is applied. In screen printing, only the negative of the design will be printed on the screen, which means that only the uncovered areas will let ink through. Once each layer of ink has been added, it’s cured to ensure the colors don’t bleed. And you get a flawless design that can withstand countless wears and washes!
2. How do I set up my design?
Unless you’re a graphic designer, chances are you might not know which type of design file is needed for screen printing. Here at Out of the Blue, we require vector artwork that’s made in either Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW.
Wait, what exactly is a vector file? Vector files are a type of high-resolution digital file that can be resized without losing quality. This is key when a file needs to be enlarged to print on a t-shirt, without losing its sharpness.
If you don’t have a vector file, don’t worry. At Out of the Blue, our team is here to assist with each step of the design process. We can even recreate your existing file as a vector so you can rest easy knowing your design will print perfectly.
3. What is the average turn-around time for t-shirt printing in Denver?
Turn-around time will vary depending on the screen printer you’re working with. The scope of your project (i.e., quantity, complexity, etc.) will also impact your turn-around time. Here at Out of the Blue, we are proud to offer a standard delivery time of 10 business days to have your t-shirts in hand from the time you approve your artwork.
If you need your project sooner than 10 days, we’re happy to work with you to get you your garments as soon as we can.
4. How much do screen printed shirts cost?
Similar to turn-around times, printing costs will vary based on the provider and the project. There are a lot of variables that go into screen printing that can greatly impact the overall cost. For an accurate quote, your screen printer will need to know what kind of apparel you want, the quantity, turn-around time, and artwork design and color specifications.
